The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners has approved a bid to put a new roof on the Umatilla County Justice Center in Pendleton. Chairman John Shafer said the two bids were from a Pendleton company and one located in Greenacres, Washington.
“We opted to go with Palmer Roofing,” Shafer said. “It was $520,000 versus $648,000. Plus, they’re a local company, so that worked out well for us.”
Also at the Wednesday meeting, the board agreed to loan the East Umatilla County Health District money for a new ambulance. Shafer said the district’s main ambulance went down unexpectedly.
“The engine blew out on them,” he said. “They requested a loan from the county in the amount of $60,000. They are going to pay it back at $10,000 a year for six years.”
Also at the meeting, the board approved issuing a request for bids for the Airport Road Ott Road improvement project near the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center and approved transferring the portion of Irwin Road that runs through the city of Stanfield to that city.
