BAKER COUNTY SHOOTING SUSPECT ARRESTED!

UPDATE (1/14/20)

On January 13, 2020, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch was notified of a male suffering from a gunshot wound at 3100 H Street in Baker City. Law enforcement contacted the victim, identified as Nathaniel Leeland Brown (10/28/82) who was transported to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the hand. The Major Crime Team, consisting of Baker City Police Department, Oregon State Police and Baker County Sheriff’s Office, was activated. 

During the investigation, law enforcement personnel discovered a second victim at that address, identified as Angela Michelle Parrish (DOB 4/5/89). Parrish was located inside a building at 3100 H Street and had also suffered a gunshot wound and was deceased. 

A coordinated effort among law enforcement from Malheur, Grant and Baker Counties led to the location of the suspect vehicle in the Dooley Mountain area. At approximately 3:34 p.m., Malheur County Sheriff’s Office Deputies stopped the vehicle near Mormon Basin in Malheur County. The suspect, identified as Shawn Quentin Greenwood (DOB 2/7/71), was initially taken into custody on a warrant charging two counts of Assault in the Second Degree. Additional charges will be considered after the case is reviewed by a Grand Jury.

The Major Crime Team, along with the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, continued to work throughout the evening processing the scene. 

The Baker City Police Department is receiving assistance from Oregon State Police, Bureau of Land Management, Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, and Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, law enforcement determined that a late model Toyota pickup may have been involved in the incident. A coordinated effort among law enforcement from Malheur, Grant and Baker Counties led to the location of the vehicle in the Dooley Mountain area. At approximately 3:34 p.m., Malheur County Sheriff’s Office Deputies stopped the vehicle near Mormon Basin in Malheur County. The suspect, identified as Shawn Quentin Greenwood (DOB 2/7/71), was initially taken into custody on a warrant charging two counts of Assault in the Second Degree.

Law enforcement is investigating the possibility of a second victim. The criminal investigation will continue through the evening.

On January 13, 2020 at approximately 11:45 a.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch was notified of a male suffering from a gunshot wound near H Street in Baker City. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. There is no immediate danger to the public.
The Major Crime Team is currently investigating. Baker City Police Department, Oregon State Police, Bureau of Land Management, and Baker County Sheriff’s Office personnel are on scene. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.

Update: The incident is reported to have taken place West of the (Bureau of Land Management) BLM Office in Baker County. According to a representative from the BLM, “No BLM employees were injured or involved in the incident.”

At this time, there is no immediate danger to the public, and schools have not been placed on lockdown. The Major Crime Team is currently investigating this incident.
