Grant County Undersheriff Zach Mobley, along with John Day Police Chief Mike Durr, have begun to formulate a program to get the public involved in efforts to reduce local burglaries and thefts. Mobley said the Major Crimes Team was even involved in one case:
“This whole thing just came up between me and Chief Durr, sitting down and discussing ‘what are some options we can do to stop all these things that are going on.’
Everybody’s probably heard about all of the burglaries going on at businesses. On the last one, at the Dark Horse, we actually pulled our Major Crimes Team for the county to help process that scene—just because of the extent of it.”
The Undersheriff said to look for a release toward the end of this week or the first part of next week with the details on a new tip reward program for the public.
