EASTERN OREGON: Cap and Trade opponent will be missed

The AAA Motor Club of Oregon stood in opposition to the complex cap and trade legislation that failed to pass the Oregon Legislature last summer. The issue will be back in 2020, even though that session is only 35 days long.
One of the strongest opponents to the legislation that was proposed is Republican Cliff Bentz of Ontario. He was a state senator but has since resigned to run for Congress. AAA Motor Club Government Affairs Director Marie Dodds told us that his voice of reason at the conference table will be missed.
“He is very knowledgeable about cap and invest and put a lot of effort in this last session,” she said. “His depth of knowledge will be missed.”
Originally, Bentz said he would like to finish the short session before he stepped down to mount his campaign, but wasn’t sure if that would be possible.
