COLLEGE PLACE: Police train on simulator

A state-of-the-art simulator recently rolled into College Place recently, giving officers an opportunity to develop and enhance their skills while working in real-life scenarios. The Law Enforcement Training Simulator is in a trailer that travels around the region. It allows officers to practice verbal de-escalation tactics in shoot/don’t shoot situations, as well as inactive shooter response.

Following each scenario, officers are given an opportunity to de-brief and analyze the decisions they made.

According to a post on Facebook, the police department said training like this helps officers become more effective while improving safety for both the police and the public. Chief Troy Tomaras told KTEL News the LETS trailer was provided by the city’s insurance company.
