Encouraging Customer Vigilance during National Scam Awareness Week
Idaho Power reminds you to stay vigilant of scams year-round, but especially as the holidays approach. The busiest shopping time of the year is often the busiest time for consumer scams, including those involving Idaho Power.
Idaho Power is working with 140 electric, water, and natural gas utilities to educate customers and raise awareness about common utility impostor scams during this week’s National Scam Awareness Week.
Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS), a week-long advocacy campaign, is in its fourth year. UUAS encourages customers to stay alert to the changing tactics scammers use to target customers.
If you are unsure about a caller or service worker, or if you suspect fraudulent activity, call Idaho Power’s Customer Care Team immediately at 208-388-2323 or 1-800-488-6151.
Be aware of these common scams. Idaho Power will NEVER do these things:
• Demand immediate payment over the phone
• Require payment for a defective meter
• Ask for same-day payment via pre-paid cards
