MALHEUR COUNTY: Application for proposed gold mine

Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) received a Consolidated Permit Application under Oregon’s chemical process mining laws and regulations on November 15, 2019.
Calico Resources USA Corporation is proposing to construct an underground gold mine, surface mill complex and tailings storage facility at Grassy Mountain, about 22 miles south-southeast of Vale in Malheur County. The site includes both private and public lands managed by the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
A Notice of Intent was filed on February 28, 2017, and the Environmental Baseline Study Work Plans were finalized on September 22, 2017. Baseline data collection and review remains ongoing.

The public will have an opportunity to comment on the application. Notice of a public hearing and comment period shall be provided when the date, location, and period allowed for written comment has been established by DOGAMI.
