Interim Fire Chief Jim Critchley retired from heading up the huge Tucson Fire Department in his native Arizona, but he says retirement taught him he’d rather be working. He really likes the Round-Up City.
“My initial contract was for six months, but I’ve fallen in love with the community and the people,” he said. “I think the city manager and I will sit down and talk about things in the very near future.”
Critchley confesses that because he’s lived his life in the Sunbelt, he doesn’t relish having to fight a fire in the cold of the winter, but he’s ready after experiencing the bitterly cold spell last month.
“It’s a dry cold,” he said with a smile.
