The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners actually lowered a fee at its regular meeting on Wednesday morning. A conditional use permit costs $750. The board approved a planning department suggested that the fee be cut to $350 for people seeking to build a temporary hardship dwelling.
Also at the meeting, the board approved turning over a portion of Powerline Road to the city of Umatilla. Board Chairman George Murdock says the change also needs to be approved by the Umatilla City Council.
“We did provide some funds to help them make necessary improvements to take it from a county road to a city road and provide for significant potential residential development,” Murdock said.
The county is offering the city $200,000 to help fund the upgrade. Umatilla County has already ceded Powerline Road within the city limits to the city. This portion, that includes Dean Place, stretches from Highway 720 to the end of the urban growth boundary.
