WALLA WALLA: Golf course roof hits a water hazard

The last thing you want during a roof replacement project is for it to rain, but unfortunately, Mother Nature didn’t cooperate over the weekend. Contractors have been replacing the 50- to the 60-year old roof on the pro shop at Veterans Memorial Golf Course, located on the 200 block of East Rees Avenue.

The work isn’t finished yet, and when the rain fell this weekend, it caused a minor mess.

“We’re nearing completion over there, so yes, it wasn’t quite watertight yet, but we’re getting there,” Walla Walla Parks and Recreation Director Andy Coleman said. “There was a little water that came into the building Sunday.”

Coleman added that the pro shop’s new roof will be sealed up in the next week to 10 days and then the building will be ready for winter.
