A new addition to the Grove Sports Complex at South 15th Avenue and South Mill Street is scheduled to arrive Thursday morning. At around 10 a.m., a portion of roadway will be closed to allow semis to unload and a crane to lift and set in place the new concessions and restroom building.
“It’s coming actually from Colorado,” Milton-Freewater School District Superintendent Aaron Duff said. “It’s a prebuilt concrete building. They’re kind of neat because the siding and everything are stamped, so it looks like a wood building.”
Duff said the grass is also coming up and crews will probably conduct their first mowing of the fields in about a week.
The Grove Sports Complex features two Official-sized soccer fields, which Duff said will allow for community members to play a variety of sports at the complex.
“The great thing about soccer fields is there aren’t things in the way,” he said. “The buzz in the community is it will really be an opportunity for T-ball. We’re starting to see an increase in youth football programs. It’s going to be multi-purpose. It also has a gravel walking path that goes on the outside of the fence for the public.”
