The Brownlee fire burning .5 miles north of Brownlee Dam on the Oregon side is currently 15 acres in size according to Vale BLM. Resources on scene include five engines, one dozer, one hotshot crew, two helicopters, four rappellers and one fixed-wing air attack. The fire is smoldering in grass/brush. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and it is currently 40% contained. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Response to this fire is an interagency effort between the Vale District BLM, the Wallowa Whitman and Payette National Forests, and the Greater Pine Valley RFPA. The road and BLM trails are open but the public is urged to use caution with when traveling in this area.
