Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash reported this morning at approximately 2:39 a.m. on Wildhorse Rd between mileposts 3 and 4. Umatilla Tribal Police Department and Umatilla Tribal Fire Department initially responded and located the crash. A red 1997 Ford Thunderbird had left the roadway, went over an embankment, and struck a tree. Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded as well as Oregon State Police to document the scene. The crash is located near the border of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and was initially believed to be Umatilla Tribal PD jurisdiction. It was later determined to be Umatilla County Sheriff’s jurisdiction and the investigation was turned over to our agency. There were three occupants in the vehicle including the driver, 18-year-old male Logan Foster of Weston, a 15-year-old female, and a 16-year-old male. The 16-year-old male was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The 15-year-old female was transported by ambulance to a LifeFlight landing zone. The 18-year-old driver, Logan Foster, was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
