PENDLETON: Thank a Cop

It’s National Police Week. Pendleton City Manager Robb Corbett says the Round-Up City is fortunate to have a great police department.

“I appreciate everything that our local police department does to protect our citizens around the clock,” he said. “They’re an exceptional group of people.”

Corbett mentioned the many challenges that are seldom faced by departments of their size, including the week-long events surrounding the Pendleton Round-Up and the crowds that flock here for the Pendleton Whisky Music Fest.

“I really appreciate the quality of life that I have in this community, along with my family,” he said. “A large part of that is as a result of the work that our police officers do.”

Officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty will be honored Wednesday in Washington, District of Columbia. Flags throughout the nation will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset and 371 names of officers who have been killed in the line of duty are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
