LA GRANDE: Saving money on new lighting

The La Grande School district held their school board meeting Wednesday night, and the board heard a report on how the new lighting has affected the cost savings throughout the district. George Mendoza Superintendent of the La Grande Public Schools said the district has received several thousands of dollars in rebates.
“We pay significantly less now for electricity for lighting and Johnson Control talked about the rebates we have received, which is around $300,000 dollars for these projects.”
Mendoza went on to say, the district has seen more in energy efficiency for natural gas, 38 percent is been saved since the upgrade.
