The John Day City Council met last night up at the airport. The Wastewater Treatment Facility was one of the main topics of discussion. Brett Moore with Anderson-Perry discussed the new incoming facility and plans for the treated, reclaimed water:
“It’s stainless steel construction; it’s a membrane bio reactor facility, which basically produces a Class A effluent that can be used for crops for human consumption. It can be used in the greenhouse in the hydroponics.
We’re looking to use that water to potentially irrigate the golf course, to water the riparian corridor, and develop the parks systems there, to water the ball fields…”
The city council passed a resolution to adopt the Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan Update.
