BAKER CITY: Traffic stop leads to controlled substance arrest

On the afternoon of February 10, 2019, officers from the Baker City Police Department stopped a white 2002 Chevy Tahoe for a traffic violation at 15th and K Street, Baker City, Oregon. During the traffic stop, reasonable suspicion of illegal controlled substance activity was suspected involving the occupants of the vehicle and Baker City Police Department drug canine “Capa” was called out and deployed on an open-air sniff of the vehicle exterior. “Capa” alerted to the presence of controlled substance odors coming from the car. A subsequent search warrant was issued for the vehicle and officers located approximately 10 ounces of suspected liquid methamphetamine, along with other pieces of drug paraphernalia.
The following persons were arrested as a result of the investigation:
Tyler James Free – DOB: 12/11/1992 – address: 18 Foothill Drive, Baker City, Oregon
– Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
– Tampering with Evidence
