On display at the Cook Memorial Library, is a collection of artwork created by Eastern Oregon University students currently enrolled in studio art classes. A variety of media, subject matter, and styles are represented, including abstract and landscape painting, black and white portrait photography, and screen printing from both beginning and advanced students. The work represents fundamentals like realistic color mixing and rendering, to expressive invented landscapes created through original and collaged imagery. Studio assignments often pair skill-building with some sort of creative or conceptual hurdle, as technique and individual expression are both important components of the artistic process.
These EOU students are looking forward to sharing their newly-created work with the La Grande community. This free exhibition is open to the public and will be on display through April 1, 2019. Cook Memorial Library is located in downtown La Grande at 2006 Fourth Street. Visit the library’s web page at www.cityoflagrande.org/library for open hours, or call 541-962-1339 for more information.
