HARNEY COUNTY: Jury begins deliberations in FBI agent trial

Here’s an update on the W. Joseph Astarita trial—the case in which the FBI agent is accused of lying to investigators about firing two errant shots at a pickup that held “LaVoy” Finicum and other Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupiers.

Astarita has pleaded not guilty.

The trial is being held in Portland. It’s been reported that a jury of three women and nine men began their deliberations following Astarita’s closing arguments yesterday. We’ll follow up on this story once a verdict is reached.
