The Urban Renewal Agency in La Grande has given money to some local businesses for renovations. According to Robert Strope La Grande City Manager said with the adoption of the 2018-2019 Urban Renewal Agency Budget funds totaling $200,000 will go to five projects in the local area. The grants are given to businesses that will show a profit and will provide jobs. The projects receiving $50,000 grants are a complete conversion of the Texaco Station, a restoration project at 1012 Adams Avenue by LT Development and the relocation of Kehr Chiropractic, including CrossFit. Valley Veterinary Care is receiving $35,000 for significant upgrades to the Rooster Peak Professional Building and Direct Music Source was awarded $15,000 for an expansion into vacant space at their current location.
